Okay I need to talk through how I actually like
Luka and Abby together again on "ER" (Thursday, NBC,
10 p.m.). Usually I get so annoyed when "ER" puts their
plotlines on a repeat cycle but I find myself rooting for the
star-crossed duo. First of all Luka has never been sexier.
Never. And perennially downtrodden Abby has been
downright perky since the two got back together. Plus
her hair looks so much better (really is always comes down
to the hair). There's a joy to Luka and Abby that wasn't
there before.

Actually, I truly don't think George Clooney
is that great of an actor. I admire the way he managed
to leave television and become a huge movie star while
making respectable choices and not selling out or
advertising his private life, but he's a mediocre actor
at best. That said, I truly believe he is one of the most
promising directors in America right now, and I was really
amazed when I saw Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
because not only was it shot beautifully, not only did it
have atmosphere, but it also had "it". It was one of
"those movies", truly great, you could see GC's artistic
vision and talent.
So I'm ambivalent. As an actor, I don't really think he's
ever been amazing. Perhaps he will be in Syriana, but the
weight gain seems like a gimmick to me. Three Kings, Oh
Brother, etc etc. were all great, but Clooney kind of "went
along", he never really stood out. As a director, though,
he is amazing. And I'm glad he seems to realise that. Oh,
and I must also say I love him, if only for his views and the
way he expresses them (no need to say anything else,
I'm just throwing this in).
As for Goran, well, I happen to think he's a brilliant actor.
On ER he hasn't really been given a chance to shine, with
the exception of the Africa episodes in which he was
incredible. But if you watch some of his (little-known) movies
you'll see greatness. Especially in The Deep End and in
Welcome to Sarajevo he actually steals the movie and
runs away with it. He stands out having only a couple
of scenes. I think the reason he's not considered amazing
anymore is that he's been on ER for too long and his
"shot" at a film career appears to have fizzled away
(hopefully not). Frankly, I think he's a rarity in Hollywood
right now: a gorgeous but masculine leading man. Why his
only Hollywood film is Elektra baffles me. Plus, he truly is
gorgeous. Clooney is charming and appealing, but dudes.
Goran.
I mean, if you were to put them side by side, you'd get a
short-ish normal guy of medium built with a glint and a
naughtiness in his eye, and a very tall, lean, broad-shouldered
(mmm...) gorgeous creature with a smile that should be
illegal. I mean, c'mon.
Now as to the characters, Doug I though was more
annoying (because he was cocky) but also more layered,
interesting and consistent, whereas Luka seems to change
every season, with a few attributes remaining to maintain
plausibility. Frankly, he's being written so poorly it's sad.
・・・クルーニーが俳優としてどうとかいう部分はさておき、ゴランの魅力についてはまったくまったく、"ITA"(I totally agree)!
